PHP/IOP
Bliss Recovery offers flexible outpatient programs to support lasting recovery beyond residential care. Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) provides structured daytime treatment, while our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers continued therapy with a lighter schedule—both combining clinical excellence with luxury, personalized care, and holistic healing.

PHP & IOP Outpatient Programs at Bliss Recovery
Bliss Recovery’s PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program) and IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program) offer structured, clinically focused outpatient treatment designed for clients transitioning from residential care or those requiring intensive support while maintaining real-world responsibilities.
While our residential facilities are located in the Hollywood Hills, PHP/IOP clients live in carefully selected sober living homes and attend treatment at Bliss Recovery’s dedicated outpatient clinical center. This level of care provides the right blend of structure, accountability, and independence.

What Is PHP/IOP Treatment?
PHP and IOP provide comprehensive therapeutic support without requiring clients to live inside a treatment facility. These programs are ideal for clients who have stabilized medically and emotionally but still benefit from consistent therapy, mental-health monitoring, and relapse-prevention support.
PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program)
PHP is the highest intensity level of outpatient care. Clients participate in several hours of structured clinical programming each day, several days per week. PHP includes group therapy, individual therapy, psychiatric oversight, and case management. After programming, clients return to their sober living homes, where they continue receiving structure and accountability in a safe, supportive environment.
IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program)
IOP is a step down from PHP. It includes fewer treatment hours per week while still providing group therapy, individual support, and regular clinical check-ins. IOP helps clients transition toward greater independence while continuing to receive professional guidance during the early stages of reintegration.
Both PHP and IOP help maintain momentum in recovery while allowing clients to slowly resume daily responsibilities such as work, school, and family commitments.

Mental and Emotional Challenges Addressed in PHP/IOP
Clients entering PHP/IOP are often adjusting to life after detox or residential treatment. Emotional triggers and life stressors can surface as clients begin reintegrating into daily routines. PHP/IOP provides consistent support to address these challenges in real time.
Common challenges addressed include:
Anxiety, panic, or emotional overwhelm
Depression or low motivation
Mood instability
Cravings or early recovery triggers
Difficulty with relationships or communication
Trauma symptoms resurfacing
Stress related to work or family
Poor coping skills or emotional regulation
Self-esteem issues or self-doubt
These programs allow clients to process life experiences while strengthening their emotional foundation.

Why PHP/IOP Is Important
PHP/IOP is a key stage in long-term recovery because it provides structure during a vulnerable period. As clients begin taking on more independence, the risk of relapse can increase. Continued clinical support greatly reduces this risk.
PHP/IOP is vital because it:
Provides ongoing structure
Reinforces coping strategies learned in residential care
Builds emotional resilience
Reduces relapse risk during transition periods
Offers support while clients return to responsibilities
Helps stabilize mental health symptoms
Encourages accountability
Supports long-term success through consistent guidance
This level of care bridges the gap between full-time treatment and independent living.

Clinical Therapies Used in PHP/IOP
Bliss Recovery’s outpatient programming is built entirely around evidence-based, trauma-informed clinical treatment. Therapies are tailored to each client’s needs, history, and long-term goals.
Clinical approaches include:
Individual therapy
Group therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Motivational Interviewing
Relapse prevention and coping-skills development
Life skills training and real-world reintegration support
Case management and progress monitoring
Family therapy, when appropriate
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) – Used to treat trauma and emotional triggers by helping the brain safely process stored memories.
Brainspotting – A therapeutic technique that targets emotional blockages by identifying brain-body activation points to release trauma, stress, and emotional patterns.
These therapies help clients heal at a deeper level while developing practical skills for daily life.

A Day in the Life at PHP/IOP
PHP and IOP schedules provide structure while allowing clients to continue building independence. Programs may run in the morning, afternoon, or early evening depending on the level of care and individual needs.
A typical PHP/IOP day may include:
Morning or afternoon check-in
Group therapy sessions
Individual therapy or EMDR/Brainspotting (as clinically indicated)
Psychoeducation or skill-building groups
Breaks for meals, reflection, or sober living responsibilities
Case management or progress review
Relapse-prevention and planning activities
End-of-day debrief and preparation for sober-living transition
This balanced schedule keeps clients grounded and supported throughout the day.
Why Bliss Recovery’s Outpatient Structure Supports Long-Term Recovery
While PHP/IOP does not take place at the Hollywood Hills residential facility, clients still receive high-quality, consistent care. Living in sober living homes while attending outpatient treatment provides the right level of support while allowing clients to rebuild their lives gradually.
Clients benefit from:
A safe, structured sober-living environment
Accountability and peer support
A routine that mirrors healthy daily living
Professional therapeutic guidance
Skills practice in real-world settings
Continued focus on mental health, stability, and relapse prevention
This combination of sober living + outpatient treatment gives clients a stable, supportive path toward long-term recovery.
