Admissions / Clinical Assessment

Step 02

Clinical Assessment

After insurance verification, you'll have a confidential clinical assessment with a member of our team. This is a conversation — not an interrogation. It takes about 30 minutes and carries no obligation.

What we cover

What the Assessment Covers

The clinical assessment helps us understand your situation so we can recommend the right level of care and build a treatment plan that actually fits you.

Substance use

  • The substances involved and the pattern of use
  • Physical dependence and any previous withdrawal experiences

Mental health

Prior treatment

  • What you've tried before, what worked, and what didn't

Life situation

  • Work, family, and living situation
  • What you're hoping for from treatment
Your care plan

How It Informs Your Care

Your personalized care plan

The clinical assessment drives every subsequent clinical decision. It determines whether medical detox is indicated, which level of care is most appropriate, what therapeutic approaches are most likely to be effective, and what the treatment plan should prioritize.

Honest about fit

We will be honest with you about what we find and what we recommend — including if we believe a different program is a better fit for your specific situation.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a family member participate in the assessment?

Yes, with your permission. We regularly include family members in assessment conversations when the person seeking treatment welcomes it. We can also speak with family members separately if they are researching options on behalf of a loved one.

What happens if I'm not a good fit for Bliss Recovery?

We will tell you honestly and help point you toward programs that are better suited to your situation. We do not believe in placing people in programs that don't fit their clinical needs.
